Today's Book Spotlight is One Of The Flock, a YA book by Danielle Palumbo. Read on to find out more about this author's debut novel!
Whitney’s the leader of The Flock, a popular crowd that rules Paramount High. When Aphrodite finds a way to befriend Whitney, she takes it, even if it means losing those most important to her and a bit of herself in the process.
A. "Summer Sisters" by Judy Blume is hands down my favorite book. It truly captures the raw emotion of friendship and how nothing ever stays the same.
A. At this point I read everything. My current book of choice is the second book in "The 5th Wave" trilogy, "The Infinite Sea" by Rick Yancey. Colleen Hoover is my favorite writer out of everyone in the universe. She is exactly who I hope to be someday. Patiently waiting for her next book.
A. The hardest part of writing anything is dedication. As a writer you think of five million other things you could be doing besides writing. It's hard because you love writing, yet you fear it. It's a fine balance living your daily life and pushing through all the steps it takes to create a novel.
I'm an Author
There I said it. It's hard to commit to that self-proclamation, when I know it's not in terms of societies expectations of the word. When you think AUTHOR, you see best- selling names like STEPHEN KING and DANIELLE STEEL (whom I was named after BTW) or JAMES PATTERSON and JOHN GRISHAM. This is sadly not the case for me. I have never sold one book, let alone millions of copies, but I do write. Isn't that what an author is?
I use the description author very loosely though. Have I been published? Well I guess it depends on your definition. I've had my piece "My Dearest Friend" featured in an edition of Ball States University's Literary magazine Embodied Effigies. That same sad little piece of non-fiction from my past, also won the third place award at The North Wildwood Beach Writers Conference in 2014. I previously hosted a parenting blog for a short period of time, titled Raising the Future with my local newspaper, and I am currently working on my second
novel, "That Summer".
But my real claim to fame? Mother and Wife Extraordinaire.
My actual time, when I'm not stealing moments writing haphazard non-sense on scraps of paper, is spent being a chauffeur, screaming my head off at hockey games (and softball, soccer, basketball ETC) and cuddling on the couch with the cutest dude on the planet. So author? meh, maybe. Happy and Lucky to live the life I do? YES!!!!
(Oh and I also have a real job running a gorgeous little bed and breakfast in
Cape May, New Jersey. Check it out @ www.petershieldsinn.com.)
