Two More Miles

Today I'm reviewing Jan Romes new book Two More Miles (Previously part of a box set, be sure you haven't read this as part of that set before you purchase. The read inside portion from Amazon is below). I saw a tweet yesterday that she had released Two More Miles, I One-Clicked it, and started reading. I finished this in one sitting (well except for that part where i had to sleep a few hours). This is one of Jan's best stories! If you love true love tempered by reality, then you've gotta one click Two More Miles! It's .99 on Amazon and part of Kindle Unlimited. Read on for my review!

Ophthalmologist secretary, Ava Beckenridge goes overboard on the exercise regimen and passes out at the gym. Dr. Keith Miles, OB/GYN stages a rescue when she falls. There's an undercurrent of animosity between them from a spat they had earlier over a treadmill, but now there's something else to go with it - an attraction neither one wants. He's cocky. She's stubborn. Their pasts keep them guarded and causes trust issues. In the midst of all that madness, they both claim to see something that may or may not be there - she says he has severe eye strain, he says he can see she's with child. The humor is plentiful. The path to happiness is rugged. Will two more Miles fix everything?

"You're on my treadmill." For the reader, it was a great opening line! For Ava, not so much. Doing nothing but trying to workout to get over her ex, she comes face-to-face with Dr. Keith Miles, an OB/GYN with a touch of OCD. He liked to use the same treadmill every morning at 7:45, and everyone at the gym knew it, everyone but Ava, and Ava didn't give a fig. Determined to put the rude doctor out of her head, she pushed herself to the point of exhaustion and ended up needing his services when she passed out.

In true Jan Romes style she gives us a romantic tale of true love riddled with real life. Keith is a workaholic who is really just running from intimacy and the memories of his childhood. Ava is a sweet girl who has a habit of picking losers to date. Both of them are coming off bad relationships and their meeting is sure to cause a thunderous clap of 'oh hell no' throughout Ohio, but it doesn't. They both find something in each other they weren't expecting the first night they go to dinner. The love affair continues, until that thing called real life kicks in.

I won't say anything more, but I will say, you have to grab Two More Miles, a cup of coffee and a blanket, because you won't be able to put it down until the last page. I've been in a reading funk, but I'm not any longer! This book took away the heaviness and released the happy in my heart, like all of Jan's books do. I used to say my top favorite book of Jan's was Stay Close, Novak, but that's been moved to number two, replaced by the wonderful story of Ava and Keith, Two More Miles gets five romantic treadmills from me!
