Chasing Christmas Eve ~ Jill Shalvis

Today's 12 Days of Christmas romances is Chasing Christmas Eve by Jill Shalvis! I normally wouldn't do two books from the same author, but I got this book on a deal last week and loved it! Plus, it's from the same series as The Trouble With Mistletoe, so the supporting characters are familiar from my review of that book last week. At the time of the posting the book is $1.99, which is an amazing deal for  Jill Shalvis book, so grab it if you can, because you'll love this romantic, sexy story. I was going to make it the last book of the event, but I'm not sure how long it will be on sale, so don't wait!

(A standalone Heartbreaker Bay novel)

Meet cute...

Run for the hills—temporarily. That’s Colbie Albright’s plan when she flees New York for San Francisco. Wrangling her crazy family by day and writing a bestselling YA fantasy series by night has taken its toll. In short, Colbie’s so over it that she’s under it. She’s also under the waters of a historic San Francisco fountain within an hour of arrival. Fortunately, the guy who fishes Colbie out has her looking forward to Christmas among strangers. But she’s pretty sure Spencer Baldwin won’t be a stranger for long.

Make merry...

Spence’s commitment to hiding from the Ghosts of Relationships Past means he doesn’t have to worry about the powerful—okay, crazy hot—chemistry he’s got with Colbie. Just because she can laugh at anything, especially herself... just because she’s gorgeous and a great listener…just because she “gets” Spence immediately doesn’t mean he won’t be able to let Colbie go. Does it?

…and hope for a miracle.

Now the clock’s ticking for Colbie and Spence: Two weeks to cut loose. Two weeks to fall hard. Two weeks to figure out how to make this Christmas last a lifetime.

Chasing Christmas Eve was another winner from the Heartbreaker Bay family! Spence. Oh, sweet, adorable, nerdy Spence. you do deserve love and Colbie might just be the perfect woman for you. she too loves to work, but thankfully, she also knows when she needs more.

Chasing Christmas Eve was a seriously sexy book with a great plot line (who doesn't love a writer who is blocked?) and a sexy nerd hero who is so busy taking care of everyone else that he forgets about his own happiness. He's been burned, he doesn't trust easily, or so he says, but the fact is, he trusts those his heart knows are good for him. His heart knows Colbie is one of them from the get-go.

What I loved about Chasing Christmas Eve was the simplicity of the complicated. Both Colbie and Spence's lives are beyond complicated but when they are together everything is simple. Love, while complicated, is really very simple, which they both learn by the end of the book.

If you love a fast paced, never boring, sexy, fun, love triumphs all, kind of Christmas book then you want to grab Spence and Colbie's story.

Side note: I loved that Colbie was always making notes for plots and characters. As a writer, I do this all the time and it drives my family bonkers! It was nice to see the how accurate the writer plot line aspect was, almost as if it was written by... a writer ;)

I give Chasing Christmas Eve five cups of nerdalicious coffee, San Fran style!
