The December of Disabilities Reading Challenge encourages readers to find books by authors with disabilities featuring characters with disabilities to read during December. There are other challenges like this during December, but they do not curate the list to ensure each book and author is part of the disability community. This is not the month to read books by abled authors who are writing disabled fiction. This is the month to highlight and lift up the books written in the voices of people with lived experience of the stories they are telling. We have curated a list of books below featuring characters with disabilities, written by authors with disabilities. Any genre goes!
