Okay, okay, drag your eyes off that cover and focus down here! It's hard I know...pun intended! What can I say? This is one sexy book and M.L. Broome has no small task to give us a story this sweet and sexy in such a short story. I read this Christmas novella the first night I had it and you will too! It Must Have Been the Mistletoe is only 99c on Amazon and is free in KU! Read on for the info and my review! On the twelfth day of Christmas...there's more than one surprise under the tree. It Must Have Been the Mistletoe is the final installment in 12 Days of Kissmas, twelve standalone novellas guaranteed to warm even the chilliest of nights! Warm up with this second chance, forced proximity story about Penny and her gorgeous ex-fiancee, Jackson. Wine? Check Cookies? Check Enough supplies to last me until this holiday is over? Check, check, check. I love Christmas, but I’m not in the mood for merriment and mistletoe this year. I have a different plan—camping out at my lakefront cabin to nurse a bottle of wine and a broken heart. It’s all going smooth, until my ex-fiancée, Jackson, shows up on the doorstep with the same plan. There may be a blizzard outside, but I’m far more worried about the inferno smoldering between Jackson and me—one he insists on stoking every chance he gets. Looks like there’s more than one way to keep warm this Christmas. REVIEW:
First off, I did a little dance when I saw that M.L. Broome had written a Christmas novella! I was excited to jump in but was even more excited to discover It Must Have Been the Mistletoe had some of my favorite tropes, yes as in multiple! I'm a sucker for the best friends to lovers romance, not to mention forced proximity, followed by the ex-fiance. Well, I got them all in this short, steamy Christmas novella! Penny is spending another Christmas alone. She was supposed to be married by now to her best friend turned lover, Jackson, but instead, he went off to L.A. to play in a band and forgot she was waiting for him at home. Wait a second, Jackson disputes that claim! Unfortunately, Penny doesn't know that because she cut Jackson out of her life completely and hasn't spoken to him since she broke it off with him over a year ago. Enter the best friend, who did a little luncheon date with one very sad and upset drummer. She just happened to drop a hint about where Penny was spending her Christmas vacation this year. Jackson just happened to take the hint. Penny was not happy when she walked into the kitchen of her lovely vacation home to see the man she still loved standing in the doorway. Okay, so she was secretly happy, but there was no way she was letting Jackson off that easily. She had questions and she deserved to hear the answers. With the backdrop of the beautiful snow-filled Christmas town, Penny and Jackson work through their past pain and find new hopes and dreams in a place that Penny thought would be the final piece of her journey to let Jackson go. M.L. Broome never disappoints with her stories that are always character-driven, sexy as all get out, and the romantic conflict is dealt with in a mature and responsible way. You're guaranteed a HEA with her books, but she makes her characters work to get it. This is one Christmas novella you don't want to miss! |
